Help our Boarding School Students Connect with Their Jewish Roots on a Journey to Poland

We are reaching out to you with a sincere appeal to support an educational program for boarding school at-risk students in grades 11 and 12. These students have the unique opportunity to participate in an educational journey that delves deeply into the history of the Holocaust and Jewish roots—a journey that could profoundly impact their lives.

Our Program

Throughout the school year, our students participate in comprehensive studies about the Holocaust and Jewish roots. The curriculum culminates in a two-month intensive course followed by a one-week educational journey to Poland. This journey includes visits to significant historical sites such as Auschwitz-Birkenau, Majdanek, Treblinka, Warsaw, and more, as well as meetings with Holocaust survivors and various testimonies. It is our duty to ensure that the Holocaust and its atrocities are never forgotten. The journey to Poland offers students a unique and in-depth learning experience.

The Challenge

The total cost per student for this program is 7,000 NIS. The program includes two months of intensive studies before the trip to Poland during afternoon hours with all the children of the council and the trip itself, which includes flights, hotels, full board, security, insurance, and visits to various sites. Unfortunately, many of our students come from challenging economic backgrounds and cannot afford these expenses. Participation in the program is not mandatory, but we believe that every student should have the chance to join without financial barriers.

Your generous donation can make a significant difference. By supporting this program, you are providing these young individuals with the opportunity to connect with their roots, understand their history, and develop as informed and empathetic members of the community. Kfar Galim is a vibrant multi-cultural educational institution and boarding school established in 1952, offering unique study programs while maintaining a strong connection to the values of labor and agriculture. The Kfar Galim Regional High School serves 1786 pupils from the communities of the Hof HaCarmel Regional Council and has a boarding program for 332 pupils from across the country.

The majority of the boarding school students aged 12-18 come from disadvantaged backgrounds, struggling immigrant families or are Naale students from the FSU and Ukraine. Many of these vulnerable youth face hardships and crises resulting from immigration or strained and complicated family situations. They struggle with motivational and self-esteem issues and have a history of underperformance. Kfar Galim believes in providing equal opportunities and promotes a positive mindset and achievement culture to prepare these teens to lead productive lives while fulfilling their individual potential and becoming independent adults and contributing citizens.

In the spirit of excellence, we support our students in obtaining a matriculation certificate, steer them towards STEAM subjects, engage them in community activities and provide a wealth of informal programming to encourage them to discover their talents and new fields of interest.
